Expectations of an in-depth discussion of Greek-Russian cooperation on energy in the context of the 4th Greek-Russian Forum and the energy conference included therein were dashed on its first day on Wednesday.

Moscow appreciates NATO member Greece's position regarding the West's decision to impose retaliatory sanctions following the annexation of Crimea, visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Wednesday.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is expected to arrive in Athens on Tuesday, November 1 on an official visit. The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a press release stating that matters included on the agenda of talks would be trade, economy, investment and energy cooperation, as well as international affairs and the EU-Russian relations.

BELGRADE - NATO's bombings of Yugoslavia in 1999 were an aggression and the first attack in Europe on a sovereign state since 1945 that inflicted damage to numerous civilian objects, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrives in Athens on Tuesday to discuss bilateral ties, the Cyprus peace talks, and developments in the eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.

Lavrov will hold talks with his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and President Prokopis Pavlopoulos.

Turkey's Air Forces have been unable to carry out aerial campaigns in Syria as part of the Euphrates Shield operation since Oct. 22, as Syria has activated its air defense systems over the flight of Turkish warplanes into Syrian airspace. 

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is expected to visit Greece on Tuesday and Wednesday to attend a Russian-Greek forum being organized as part of the Year of Greek-Russian Friendship, sources said Thursday.

On Wednesday, Lavrov is expected to meet with his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias and Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos.
