Relations between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria have been demonstrating positive dynamics over the recent years. There are plenty of spheres where the countries can implement joint projects and use potential of both countries for further development of economic cooperation, especially within the energy field, writes MENAFN.

Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), which envisages transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Bulgaria will ensure real diversification of sources, said Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Trend reports.

Greece and Bulgaria have agreed to work on the updated schedule of the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), which envisages transportation of Azerbaijani gas, Trend reports.

Bulgaria recognizes Azerbaijan as the main driving force behind the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor, Bulgarian ambassador to Azerbaijan Nikolay Yankov said, reports Trend. 

Yankov made the remarks in Baku at the official reception on the occasion of the Liberation Day of Bulgaria on March 4, Trend reports.

The implementation of the interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) that will provide delivery of Azerbaijani gas to South East Asia has already been settled. It is an irreversible process.

This was stated by Energy Minister of Bulgaria Temenuzhka Petkova at a round table on "Risks and prospects for the energy security of South-Eastern Europe", reports Azer News.

Italy's Saipem, a consortium including Azeri state firm SOCAR and nine other groups or firms have submitted initial bids to build a gas pipeline between Bulgaria and Greece, the company overseeing delivery of the project said.

It is planned to start the construction of the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), which envisages transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Bulgaria, by late 2018, said Bulgaria's Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova.

Azerbaijan and Bulgaria are not only friends, but also strategic partners, Azerbaijan's ambassador to Bulgaria Nargiz Gurbanova told Bloomberg TV, quoted by Trend News Agency.

Azerbaijan's state-run energy company SOCAR, a majority stakeholder of Turkish petrochemical maker Petkim, is aiming to make an additional investment worth up to $3 billion in Turkey, SOCAR Turkey chair Vagif Aliyev has said.

"SOCAR is working on a new investment for petrochemical products. The new facility may become a second Petkim," Aliyev said in an interview in Baku.

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which aims to pump Azeri gas to Europe by 2020, will cost 4.5 billion euros in total, the project chief has stated.
