Eleven independent MPs who broke away from main opposition SYRIZA in recent weeks have agreed to form a new parliamentary group, the name of which will be announced on Monday. 

Chairman of the group is Alexis Haritsis, while Euclides Tsakalotos and Nasos Iliopoulos are the parliamentary representatives. Peti Perka is secretary.

An inter-ministerial committee involving officials from Greece and North Macedonia is to meet for the first time on Monday under Alternate Foreign Minister Sia Anagnostopoulou.

The gulf between the leftist-led coalition and most opposition parties regarding the prospect of a constitutional revision that would allow private universities to operate in Greece was clear on Wednesday during the second day of a committee-level debate in Parliament on the subject.

The government is compelled to integrate the children of refugees into the education process if it wants to be true to its left ideology, Deputy Education Minister Sia Anagnostopoulou told left.gr in an interview.

The Greek University’s Dean Council decided in conjunction with the Deputy Minister of Education, Sia Anagnostopoulou in an extra ordinary meeting on the island of Lesvos to open universities to refugees who want to take part in studies either on campus or via correspondence.

Deputy Education Minister Sia Anagnostopoulou told daily newspaper, Kathimerini, that she disagrees with the way in which history is taught in Greek schools. “History school books must change,” she said. “Research and the opinions of scientists on history and how it is taught in schools must stop being molded within a national measure.

Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) members appear to be immune to popular outrage concerning moral justice and are giving a recital in nepotism. The latest example is that of Alternate Education Minister Sia Anagnostopoulou whose family appointments reign supreme, something that is a matter of course within the party.
