Türkiye is a global player in the world and the cooperation between Germany and Türkiye should be established on a new ground, Germany's ruling Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader Lars Klingbeil has said.

Underlining that the two countries have many social relations, Klingbeil noted that Türkiye is an important trade partner for Germany in economic terms.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with numerous top diplomats and heads of international organizations on June 19 on the occasion of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) in southern Turkey.

Çavuşoğlu started the day with a trilateral meeting with the participation of foreign ministers of Malta and Libya, Evaris Bartolo and Najla Mangoush, respectively in Antalya.

Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, the leader of German Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservative Christian Democrats, announced today that she will not run for chancellor. She will also step down from her position heading the party, German media report.

Former German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel has sharply criticized the U.S. for providing support to groups in northern Syria linked to the PKK terrorist organization despite repeated warnings from its NATO ally Turkey and consequently creating a deep rift between Washington and Ankara. 

Germany continues to sell weapons for millions of euros to Turkey in the context of a controversial Ankara operation against Kurdish militias in northern Syria, DPA reported.

Germany’s acting Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel said on March 8 that he would not be a member of the new government under conservative Chancellor Angela Merkel who will lead a coalition with his Social Democrats (SPD).

BELGRADE - Germany is a dependable partner of Serbia, President Aleksandar Vucic said on Wednesday.

It is the partner we expect the most from and whose position regarding us is firm, but it is certainly a partner on Serbia's EU path, Vucic said at a press conference with German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel.

Vucic: Visit to Croatia important

During a visit to the divided town of Mitrovica in northern Kosovo, German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel said the problem with organized crime had to be tackled before any other open issues concerning the region are put on the table.

Serbia must recognize Kosovo's independence as a condition of joining the European Union, German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel has said.

U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie, confirms that the US will be actively involved in the EU-brokered dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels.

"Whatever the format is, we will help and support," he said.
