MEPs convey stark message about rule of law in debate on EU presidency priorities
Strasbourg – MEPs from the majority of political groups in the European Parliament sent PM Janez Janša some stark messages about the rule of law after he presented Slovenia’s EU presidency priorities in the Parliament in Strasbourg on Tuesday. His European People’s Party (EPP) too urged him to promptly appoint European delegated prosecutors.
Italy's Sassoli elected leader of EU Parliament
David-Maria Sassoli, an Italian member of the Socialists & Democrats bloc, has been elected as the next president of the European parliament after two rounds of voting in the Strasbourg-based legislature.
In the second round Sassoli received 345 votes, well over the absolute majority required from the 667 eligible votes.

PM Dancila's letter to EC top officials confirmed (Commission spokesperson)
Premier Viorica Dancila sent President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker and Commission First Vice-President Frans Timmermans a letter, the EU executive body confirmed on Friday.
We can confirm having received the letter and the answer will follow in due time, a spokesperson of the European Commission said on Friday, at the request of AGERPRES.
