Kosovo and Serbia to Resume Dialogue in Washington

The US special envoy to the stalled Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Richard Grenell, said on Twitter on Friday that a meeting between Kosovo and Serbia would take place in Washington on September 2.

"We are happy to announce that the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia will meet at the White House for a negotiation on September 2″, Grenell tweeted without providing further details.

Kosovo will have support necessary to join Interpol "by September"

Kosovo Interior Minister Skender Hyseni believes that Kosovo will have the support necessary to join Interpol "by September."

However, he admitted this will represent "a huge challenge."

The public broadcaster in Kosovo, RTK, is reporting that Hyseni "already has a team working on Kosovo's membership in Interpol."

Kosovo Villagers Welcome Border Deal Review

Villagers from the Rugova community on the border with Montenegro have said they welcome plans for a presidential commission to reassess the controversial demarcation deal between Kosovo and Montenegro.

Rrustem Selimaj, who lives in Haxhaj village, told BIRN that his community is one of the most affected by the agreement between Kosovo and Montenegro on border demarcation.

Balkan Leaders Urge Better Security Cooperation

 

Ministers and diplomats from Albania, Montenegro, Macedonia, Hungary and Bulgaria gathered for two days in Pristina, Kosovo, to discuss matters of shared interest, especially security and migration issues.

The struggle against terrorism and religious radicalisation was among the main topics, along the migration crisis and security in the region.

Kosovo Commission to Shed Light on Kumanovo

Kosovo's parliament is to ccompile a report on all previous knowledge possessed by relevant security institutions relating to the "suspicious movements" of Kosovo citizens in Macedonia.

Media reports have claimed that some of the young men arrested or killed in Kumanovo on May 9th were already being investigated by the Kosovo police.

US General Rallies Kosovo For Fight Against Islamists

General John Allen visited Kosovo on Thursday, meeting top officials on a mission to strengthen cooperation within the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL, of which Kosovo is a part.

President Atifete Jahjaga said in a meeting with the US General that mainly Muslim Kosovo was determined "never to become a haven for terrorist groups or a source of extremism".
