Greek death toll from Covid-19 rises to 101 with two new fatalities

Two more people died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours in Greece, with overall fatalities standing at 101, Greek officials said in their daily briefing on Tuesday afternoon.

Health Ministry spokesman and infectious disease expert Sotiris Tsiodras said  the average age for the victims was 73 years.

Greece’s Covid-19 death toll reaches 100

Greece's death toll from the novel coronavirus has reached 100, after a patient at the capital's Attikon Hospital succumbed to the disease late on Monday.

According to preliminary reports, the patient was a man aged 84 years old.

Greece confirmed its first novel coronavirus infection on February 26 and reported the first death from the Covid-19 disease on March 12.

One new Covid-19 death, 99 in total

One more person died in the past 24 hours from Covid-19 in Greece, with the total number of fatalities standing at 99.

Sotiris Tsiodras, the Health Ministry's spokesman and infectious disease expert, said in his daily press briefing that 31 new cases were recorded in the country putting the new sum at 2,145, of which 56 pct are men.

Greek Health Ministry representative Sotiris Tsiodras and National Health Organization (EODY) president Panagiotis Arkoumaneas on Monday visited a retirement home in Nea Makri, east of Athens, which was quarantined the night before after several residents tested positive for the coronavirus.

Four more people died from coronavirus disease 2019 in the last 24 hours in Greece, with the total number of victims standing at 90, Health Ministry spokesman Sotiris Tsiodras said on Friday.

Health authorities confirmed an additional 56 new cases of Covid-19 which bring the total to 2,011, of which 57 percent are male.
