Pahor declines call to prevent “political” appointments of diplomats

Ljubljana – President Borut Pahor has declined the call by the Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ) not to sign a decree appointing new ambassadors ahead of the general election. He said that postponement of the appointments as part of regular rotation would be unjustified and harm the country’s foreign policy interests in the international community.

Slovenia donates firefighting equipment to N Macedonia

Ljubljana – Slovenia dispatched EUR 76,000-worth of firefighting equipment to North Macedonia on Friday. The shipment includes special firefighting backpacks, chainsaws and firebrooms, the Foreign Ministry said.

Slovenian firefighters recently helped their Macedonian colleagues fight wildfires and saw first-hand that the latter do not have enough equipment.

State secretary talks transatlantic ties with US official

Ljubljana – Foreign Ministry State Secretary Stanislav Raščan stressed the role of the transatlantic partnership and pledged Slovenia’s commitment to strengthen Slovenia-US ties as he had a video call with Philip Reeker, acting assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs at the US Department of State.

Slovenia supports plans for EU’s future financial development

Ljubljana – Foreign Ministry State Secretary Stanislav Raščan took part in a meeting of ministers in charge of development cooperation on Thursday, discussing the EU’s future financial development architecture. They called for more cooperation among financial institutions, noting that no major systemic changes were necessary, the Foreign Ministry said.

Creative Forum Ljubljana merged with Innovation Day in online event

Ljubljana – More than 500 representatives of the economy, creative sector and politics from over 50 countries will take part in an online event on Monday, a merger of the annual Creative Forum Ljubljana and Innovation Day. According to the organisers, the format allows for even more in-depth content that will reach a wide range of people.
