Bulgaria: Migrants Transported in an Ambulance on “Trakia” Highway were Detained

23 migrants, citizens of Afghanistan, were detained in Plovdiv after a chase with the police. They were transported in an ambulance by a man and a woman who are Bulgarian.

In the Stara Zagora area, policemen signaled them to stop, but the traffickers did not obey. A highway chase ensued.

Bulgaria: Natural Gas Price Set for Sharp Jump of 20%

Bulgaria's Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) has endorsed a price of 45.27 leva/MWh for natural gas, effective June 1, 2021, the regulator said in a press release on Monday.

The new price, which excludes the charges for access, transmission, excise duty and VAT, is 20 per cent higher than its May 1 level (37.71 per cent) and 122 per cent up from June 1, 2020.

Five more regions in Bulgaria are now in the Covid-19 red zone. This means the rate of infection exceeds 120 Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people.

The districts designated as red zones are Stara Zagora, Gabrovo, Lovech, Silistra and Varna.
