Bulgaria's Stiliyan Petrov Considers Renewing His Professional Football Career

Retired Bulgarian midfielder Stiliyan Petrov has expressed readiness to renew his professional football career.

Petrov was diagnosed with acute leukaemia in 2012, which led to his premature retirement from professional football in 2013.

The Bulgarian successfully battled the disease after undergoing a treatment which was completed at the beginning of last year.

The President of UEFA Michel Platini will attend the final match and the award ceremony of the European Under-17 Championship, which are taking place in the Bulgarian city of Burgas on Friday.

The final, which will pit against each other the teams of France and Germany, will take place at the Lazur stadium in Burgas at 20:00 local time

Bulgarian PM to Attend Opening of UEFA European U-17 Championship

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov will attend the official opening of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship on Wednesday.

This was announced by Zhivko Todorov, the mayor of Stara Zagora, one of the four host cities of the tournament along with Burgas, Sliven and Sozopol.

Former captain of the Bulgarian national football team Stiliyan Petrov returned to his last professional football club Aston Villa after accepting an invitation from manager Tim Sherwood.

Sherwood had invited Petrov to join his backroom team to serve as an inspiration for Aston Villa's battle to stay in the Premier League, the Telegraph reports.
