First Turkish mosque in Anatolia to be opened for service

The first Turkish mosque in Anatolia, located in the eastern province of Kars' Ani district, will be opened to service on Aug. 16, after a year-long restoration.

"The Ebu'l Menuçehr Mosque will be open on the 957th anniversary of the conquest of the Ani district," Kars Governor Türker Öküz told Demirören News Agency on Aug. 4.

Erdoğan marks Turks' historic entry to Anatolia

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has marked the 946th anniversary of the Battle of Malazgirt, the victory of Seljuk Sultan Alparslan against the Byzantine Empire on Aug. 26, 1071, in the Malazgirt district of the eastern province of Muş. 

Erdoğan gave a speech to mark the battle, which opened Anatolia to Turks, in the area that also features the 1071 Victory Monument.

Erdoğan, Yıldırım to join 946th anniversary of Battle of Manzikert

A major celebration will be held in the Malazgirt district of the eastern province of Muş on Aug. 26 to mark the 946th anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert ("Malazgirt" in Turkish), the victory of Seljuk Sultan Alparslan against the Byzantine Empire in 1071, with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım.
