A joint declaration adopted at the end of the meeting of foreign ministers of the Southern European Union Member States (Med7) has "no value and merits" for Turkey, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on June 15. 

Turkey urged Austria on May 28 to stop making Muslims and immigrants a target after a map by the government showed the locations of all mosques and Islamic associations in the country. 

Turkey on May 27 denounced remarks of the director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip - which justified the Israeli assault on the blockaded enclave.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Tanju Bilgiç in a statement called Matthias Schmale's remarks "incorrect, unfortunate and extremely dangerous."

Turkey's Foreign Ministry condemned a statement on May 17 by a senior Austrian official concerning the country's president and protests on Israeli aggression against Palestinians.

Turkey on May 14 dismissed the U.S. State Department's latest report on religious freedom, saying it is not based on fact and ignored Ankara's efforts to promote religious freedom in the country.

The Turkey section of the International Religious Freedom Report 2020 is not based on facts, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tanju Bilgiç said in a statement.

Ambassador Tanju Bilgiç has been reappointed as the spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry, succeeding Hami Aksoy who was sent to Belgrade as the Turkish ambassador to Serbia.

Good relations between Turkey and Serbia are essential for peace and stability in the Balkans, according to the outgoing Turkish ambassador.

"Relations between Turkey and Serbia must be good because these are the most important countries in the Balkans. Good relations are key for peace and stability in the Balkans," Ambassador Tanju Bilgiç told Anadolu Agency.

Serbia and Turkey are looking to improve defense industry ties, defense and diplomatic officials from both countries said on Nov. 25. 

A meeting in the capital Belgrade between Serbian Defense Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic and Turkish Ambassador Tanju Bilgiç stressed the need for more cooperation in the field of equipment and modernization, said a Serbian Defense Ministry statement.

It was an impressive display of generosity, not least given the scale of the pandemic in Turkey itself, where the novel coronavirus is spreading at a rapid rate.

BELGRADE - The upcoming visit to Serbia by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is crucial for improvement of bilateral and economic relations between the two countries, Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said at a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Tanju Bilgic Thursday.
