Greeks’ best Euroleague regular season in a decade

Panathinaikos and Olympiakos are about to complete probably the best regular seasons of the last decade in the Euroleage for Greece, after winning away from home this week to get near their objectives ahead of the playoffs.

Olympiakos has consolidated itself on the fifth place with a hard-fought 89-86 victory in Belgrade over the Red Star on Thursday.

Win for Olympiakos in Munich, loss for Panathinaikos at Kaunas

Olympiakos scored an important road win on Thursday at Bayern, while Panathinaikos fell to host Zalgiris at Kaunas on Friday, in the second half of the week's double serving for the Euroleague.

The Reds defeated their German visitors 77-69 at the Peace and Friendship Stadium on a rather comfortable evening for the Greek champion.

Olympiakos missed the chance to clinch the top spot of the Euroleague table for the regular season, going down on Thursday at Red Star Belgrade, while Panathinaikos lost to visiting Alba Berlin in Athens on Friday.

Despite leading in the first half, Olympiakos went down 87-79 at Red Star Belgrade, but it's still tied with Real Madrid at the top of the table, with a 23-10 record.

Olympiakos has clinched the home advantage for the Euroleague playoffs after its win over Villeurbanne, while Panathinaikos ended its poor run with a home win against Bayern.

The Reds scored their 22nd win in 31 matches, downing hapless Villeurbanne 81-55 at the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Piraeus on Wednesday.

Big night for Olympiakos against Real Madrid in Euroleague

Olympiakos recaptured the summit of the Euroleague table through an emphatic home win over hitherto leader Real Madrid on Friday. Panathinaikos, in turn, suffered one more defeat on the road on Thursday, this time at Virtus Bologna.

This was a night of triumph for Olympiakos at the Peace and Friendship Stadium as it defeated Real 73-60 in front of a capacity crowd.
