Türkiye's indigenous electric carmaker Togg is preparing to start two shifts at its production plant in mid-September earlier than initially planned due to strong demand, Gürcan Karakaş, the company's CEO has said.

Togg aims to deliver more than 1,000 vehicles in May, says Gürcan Karakaş, the CEO of Türkiye's first indigenous electric car maker.

"We will deliver more cars in June," Karakaş told private broadcaster Bloomberg HT, adding that a total of 28,000 will be delivered by the end of the year.

Türkiye's first domestically produced electric car Togg has been delivered to the Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev by the Turkish Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, while Aliyev has become the second person to receive Togg's vehicle after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Türkiye's first indigenous electric car maker Togg delivered its first vehicle to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and first lady Emine Erdoğan on April 3.

The aim is to commence the export of domestically produced Togg vehicles in two years after the vehicles are introduced to the local market, Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank has said.

Varank visited Togg's "Digital Mobility Garden" at the major CES tech show in the U.S.

Turkey will become a producer of critical technologies, instead of a consumer, Turkey's industry and technology minister said on May 19. 

Mustafa Varank said Turkey will not be a market for technological products but a production base for the world.
