BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic on Tuesday received Russian Ambassador Alexander Chepurin, who conveyed to him the gratitude of the Russian Federation's top state officials for his enormous personal contribution to development of cooperation between the two countries.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic on Thursday in Minsk received a Belarus state decoration - the Order of Friendship of Nations.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko presented the honor to Nikolic. The two presidents also held a bilateral meeting.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic will travel to Belarus on Thursday for a working visit, his cabinet announced on Tuesday.

Nikolic will meet with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, who will present him with the Order of Friendship of Nations.

The National Council for Cooperation with Russia and China will be officially established this week, Sputnik is reporting on Tuesday.

The Council will be headed by President Tomislav Nikolic, whose term in office expires at the end of May.

President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic spoke on Tuesday in Belgrade with Russian Ambassador Aleksandr Chepurin.

Chepurin "conveyed to President Nikolic the gratitude of the national leadership of the Russian Federation for his huge personal contribution to the development of cooperation between our two countries."

President Tomislav Nikolic will become the head of the National Council for Cooperation with Russia and China once his term in office expires on May 31.

The daily Vecernje Novosti reported this on Monday, adding that the Serbian government should make an official decision on this in the next two weeks.

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic on Wednesday received Moushira Khattab, Egypt's candidate for UNESCO director-general.

Nikolic told Khattab Serbia had backed her candidacy because of its friendly relations with Egypt in the past, as well as due to a need for excellent relations in order to build a better future for the citizens of both countries.

Vojislav Seselj has asked the president Nikolict o pardon Zvezdan Jovanovic, who has been convicted for the murder of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic.

The leader of the opposition SRS party spoke during a sitting of the Serbian National Assembly in Belgrade on Thursday.

BELGRADE - Serbia's efforts to keep Kosovo from becoming a state will be successful as long as UNMIK is performing its role in the present manner and scope, President Tomislav Nikolic told UNMIK head Zahir Tanin Monday.
