Another “stumbling stone” unveiled in Ljubljana
Ljubljana – More than 150 Jews, most of them from Croatia, were remembered with a “stumbling stone” unveiled in front on the Cukrarna Gallery in Ljubljana on Friday as the Jewish community symbolically paid respects to the group who found refuge at Cukrarna during the Nazi persecution in 1941.

President says EU champion of democracy as victims of totalitarian regimes remembered
Ljubljana – President Borut Pahor underlined the role of the EU as the champion of democracy, human rights and the rule of law as he addressed a memorial ceremony to mark the European Day of Remembrance for Victims of all Totalitarian and Authoritarian Regimes on Tuesday. A minute of silence was held at the National Assembly.
Pahor advocates a just peace in Ukraine, Golob affirms Slovenia’s support
Ljubljana – Following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s address to the National Assembly, President Borut Pahor said that a just peace should be achieved in Ukraine. Prime Minister Robert Golob reaffirmed Slovenia’s staunch support for Ukraine as he confirmed that Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon will visit Kyiv this month.
SDS proposes resolution on prosecution of war crimes in Ukraine
Ljubljana – The deputy group of the opposition Democrats (SDS) has proposed a resolution in support of a resolution by the European Parliament that is dedicated to the fight against impunity for war crimes in Ukraine. The party has requested an extraordinary session for the National Assembly to vote on the matter.
Commemoration of Ljubelj liberation calls for peace and end to evil
Ljubelj – A ceremony marking the 77th anniversary of the liberation of the Ljubelj concentration camp noted the importance of recalling horrible events in the past to prevent new horrors of war. Speakers at Saturday’s ceremony urged efforts to prevent the spread of evil and called for peace in light of the war in Ukraine.
Fajon stresses support to Ukraine’s EU accession efforts
Ljubljana – Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Olena Kondratiuk thanked Slovenia for its support for Ukraine as she addressed the press with Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon in Ljubljana on Tuesday. Fajon said Slovenia would also support Ukraine in its EU accession efforts and announced the Slovenian ambassador would return to Kyiv next Tuesday.
