The top international official in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Valentin Inzko, warned the UN Security Council that the Bosnian Serb leadership was threatening a referendum on secession and glorifying war criminals.

High Representative Valentin Inzko on Wednesday called on the Bosnian Serb leadership to accept a recent Constitutional Court ruling that the annual public holiday commemorating the founding of Republika Srpska is unconstitutional because it discriminates against other ethnicities.

Western powers may take sanctions against the Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik, after his party, the Alliance of Social Democrats, SNSD, blocked the decision-making process in the country's state parliament, an EU official told Balkan Insight on Wednesday.

The Peace Implementation Council, PIC, said in a communique released after the December 9-10 session that the focus in Bosnia needed to be on the formation of new governments, which could then start taking moves on the economy.

Nebojsa Radmanovic, Serbian member of Bosnia's Presidency, at his farewell press conference on November 13 savaged the work of the Office of High Representative, OHR, which is tasked with overseeing implementation of the 1995 Dayton accords.

Radmanovic said High Representative Valentin Inzko's regular reports to the UN were untrue and unfounded.

Presence of international troops in Bosnia "vital"

SARAJEVO -- The permanent presence of the EU military mission in Bosnia (EUFOR) with an executive mandate is vital under the circumstances, assessed Valentin Inzko.

Prior to presenting his latest report in the US, the High Representative to Bosnia, Valentin Inzko, raised the issue of new rules on checking residence in Republika Srpska, one Bosnia's two entities.

Mayor Komsic slipped and fell after the official opening of the new Sarajevo City Center on March 20.
