Atalanti quake not related to large active fault
Despite assurances that a 4.8-Richter earthquake that jolted Atalanti in eastern Fthiotida on Thursday afternoon was not related to the Atalanti Fault - a large active fault segment in the Gulf of Evia - residents of the town remained uneasy, with many leaving their homes, and some of them even heading to the beach fearing the possibility of powerful aftershocks.

More Details about Powerful Quake in Central Greece
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of up to 6.3 struck central Greece on Wednesday and was felt as far away as the capitals of neighboring Albania, North Macedonia, Kosovo and Montenegro.
There were no immediate reports of injuries. Local officials reported some structural damage, mainly to old houses and buildings that saw walls collapse or crack.
Seismologists reassuring over Athens quake
Monday night's earthquake was felt as strongly as was in the Greek capital because it was very close by, 28 kilometers northeastern of the city center in Stamata, and was close to the surface at a depth of just 4 to 5 kilometers, seismologists say.
