Bulgarian Parliament Halts Session on Friday Over Quorum Shortage

Bulgaria's parliamentary session scheduled for Friday faced cancellation as the Parliament Chairman, Rosen Zhelyazkov, halted proceedings due to the absence of a quorum. With only 68 out of 240 MPs present in the plenary during the second attempt, the minimum requirement was not met.

Bulgaria finally has a new government, after parliament voted on three points this afternoon - the election of a prime minister, the adoption of a structure of the Council of Ministers and the election of a cabinet.

Exactly at 16:01 p.m. Kiril Petkov was elected Prime Minister of Bulgaria. His candidacy was accepted by 134 votes to 104.
