Vezhdi Rashidov

With 103 votes "for", the National Assembly terminated the powers of the People's Representative from GERB Vezhdi Rashidov. Only "Vazrazhdane" voted three "against" and 27 "abstained".

Vezhdi Rashidov resigned as an MP. In a message to the media, it is stated that, in addition to the National Assembly, Rashidov is leaving the GERB party and politics.

The election of the Speaker of the National Assembly is postponed until after Easter.

After yesterday's false start with the election of the chairman of the 49th National Assembly, today the deputies gathered again in the plenary hall in an attempt to repeat the election.

Presiding over the first session of the 49th Parliament, Vezhdi Rashidov closed the plenary day without an elected Speaker of the Parliament.

This happened after the end of the break, in which the MPs walked out after they failed to elect a Speaker on the first attempt.

On Holy Wednesday - start of the 49th National Assembly. Today, the deputies will gather at a solemn meeting, which will be presided over by the oldest member of parliament.

As in the previous parliament, it is Vezhdi Rashidov in this one as well.

After taking the oath, the deputies must also elect the Speaker and Deputy Speakers of the National Assembly.

After the upcoming early parliamentary elections, the fifth in the last two years, GERB and BSP will not enter into a coalition... officially. The two formations would shake hands for an expert cabinet.

The 48th National Assembly failed to elect a Speaker of the Parliament after two procedures with two re-votes each, creating an unprecedented situation. Finally, the presiding Vezhdi Rashidov announced that the procedure will continue tomorrow, at 10:00 a.m.

The 48th National Assembly opens today with a solemn meeting. After the announcement of the election results on October 2, the current composition of the parliament includes 7 parties. The 240 people's elected representatives took an oath to respect the Constitution and to be guided by the interests of the people.

The Bulgarian Orthodox church has not given its blessing for providing Christian artifacts for the exhibition in the Louvre, BNR reported.
