ProRomania's Ponta: Provisions of law on pension increase must take effect on 1 January

Pro Romania has tabled an amendment to the draft law on pensions, which states that all provisions on pension increases should take effect on January 1, 2019 and calls on the MPs who formed the "Anti Dragnea Alliance" to support him, according to a Friday post on Facebook by Victor Ponta, the leader of this party and former social-democrat prime minister.

Ponta asks for pension increase enforcement, under new law, as of 1 January 2019

Leader of the Pro Romania Party Victor Ponta announced on Saturday evening he agrees to the pensions being increased as of 1 January 2019, adding that he will file an amendment in this respect when the new pension draft law is debated in Parliament.

Romanian Muslims Cancel Grand Mosque Project

The Romanian Muftiyat, which represents Muslims in the country, has cancelled its project to build a showpiece mosque in the capital, saying the costs were too high.

The Muftiyat has filed a request to the Ministry of Culture to return the property assigned for the planned mosque to the Romanian government, Mufti Iusuf Murat said.
