Putin refuses contacts with Erdo?an as Turkey not ready to apologise: Kremlin aide

Russian President Vladimir Putin has refused to contact Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an because Ankara does not want to apologise for the downing of a Russian warplane, Yuri Ushakov, Putin's aide, said on Nov. 27.

"We see Turkey's unwillingness to simply apologise for the incident with the plane," Ushakov told reporters when asked why Putin has refused to talk with Erdo?an.

Erdogan: “Vladimir, it was all a big misunderstanding. Please call me!”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told France 24 television on Thursday that Turkey would have acted differently if it had known that the warplane its forces downed on the Syrian border was Russian. “If we had known if it was a Russian plane maybe we would have warned it differently,” said Erdogan.

Turkey's MHP backs AKP amid tensions with Russia

Turkey's Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) will not let the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) stand alone on the issue of sovereignty and border rights, MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli said in a Nov. 26 statement over increased tensions with Russia.

"Turkey should defend to the end its kin, borders and rights to immunity that it derives from statehood," Bahçeli said.
