Director Alexandru Darie has passed away
Director Alexandru Darie, son of late actors Iurie Darie and Consuela Rosu, has passed away Wednesday afternoon, at the Fundeni Clinical Institute, medical sources told AGERPRES. Alexandru Darie, former managing director of Bucharest's Lucia Sturdza Bulandra Theatre, was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago with liver issues, the medical sources added.

The Greek National Theater presents "Timon of Athens," a play written by William Shakespeare in 1605-1606 with Thomas Middleton, describing the decline into hate of a generous man who is abandoned by his circle of flatterers and hangers-on when he finds himself broke. The production is directed by Stathis Livathinos and stars Vassilis Andreou in the title role.

Serbia has granted citizenship to the British actor and director Ralph Fiennes, who is filming a movie about a Soviet ballet dancing legend in Belgrade.
The latest issue of Serbia's national gazette said the decision was signed by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic on September 7, Beta news agency reports.

International opera festival curtain opens in Istanbul
The 8th International Istanbul Opera Festival will meet art lovers between June 13 and 23, kicking off with Mozart's famous "Abduction from the Seraglio," staged by Yekta Kara.
The opera, conducted by Zdravko Lazarov, will be performed by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet on June 13, 14 and 15 in the garden of the Istanbul Archaeology Museum.
