Tadej Pogačar won bronze for Slovenia in the road race at the UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow on 6 August in what he described as a "sprint of the living dead".

Despite crashing while leading the race, Dutch rider Mathieu van der Poel managed to remount his bike and pull away to win the rainbow jersey, finishing 37 seconds clear of Belgian Wout van Aert in second.

Mathieu van der Poel won Milan-San Remo on March 18 to claim the first 'Monument' of the season and the race his grandfather Raymond Poulidor took 62 years ago.

Norway's Tobias Foss pulled off a huge upset to dethrone two-time defending champion Filippo Ganna and claim a maiden time-trial title at cycling's road world championships in Australia on Sept. 18.

The 25-year-old conquered the 34.2-kilometer circuit in 40 minutes 02.78 seconds to edge Swiss powerhouse Stefan Kung by 2.95 seconds.

Bordeaux – At 22 years of age Slovenian rider Tadej Pogačar secured his second straight overall victory of the Tour de France by placing 8th in the penultimate stage, the time-trial between Libourne and Saint-Emilion.

Annecy – Slovenian rider Tadej Pogačar has taken the overall lead at Tour de France after an individual attack that secured him the forth place in the 150.8-km, eight stage of the prestigious race from Oyonnax to Le Grand-Bornand on Saturday.

Ancona – Slovenian road cycling star Tadej Pogačar is the winner of Tirreno-Adriatico, an elite race across Italy between the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic coasts, in what is already his sixth overall career win in multi-day races.

"I will appear in the Tour de France. I'm looking forward to the start there," Roglič announced at Friday's press conference of his Jumbo-Visma team, adding: "Our goal is to win the Tour. I want to be part of it."
