French Ambassador to Bulgaria Warns of 'Centralized' Prosecution

The Chief Prosecutor's Office of Bulgaria is "very centralized and hierarchic", French Ambassador to Bulgaria Xavier Lapeyre de Cabanes argued on Saturday.

In an interview with private bTV station's mornign program he said that everyone working for the institution depended "on a single person": "there is no Chief Prosecutor's Office in Bulgaria, there is a Chief Prosecutor".

Controversial Bulgarian Judge Summoned for 2nd Indictment

Rumyana Chenalova, a controversial judge charged with malfeasance and document fraud, is to be handed a second indictment on Wednesday, Bulgarian media outlets report.

Chenalova has been summoned to the Bulgarian security agency DANS, according to the Bulgarian National Radio which cites its own sources.

From France with Love: French Days in Sofia

Bulgaria's capital Sofia is celebrating Days of France from Friday through Sunday (October 16-18).

With support from Institut Français, which is co-organizing the event with the French-Bulgarian Trade and Industrial Chamber this year, the Days of France are going beyond exclusively gastronomic nature they had in 2014.

French, US Ambassador to Bulgaria Agree on Urgency of Judicial Reform

The condition of the Bulgarian judiciary is not a strictly domestic affair and it of interest for France too, according to French Ambassador to Bulgaria Xavier Lapeyre de Cabanes.

Speaking Thursday at a conference on the rule of law, he said that France was interested in judicial reform in Bulgaria because both countries were EU Member States.
