Deputy sports minister calls for probe into neo-Nazi soccer fans

Deputy Sports Minister Giorgos Vassiliadis has called for an investigation into audiovisual material from a Nations League soccer game in Athens on Sunday between Greece and Estonia, where supporters of the home team were captured on video making the Nazi salute and holding up a flag with the black sun used as a symbol by the SS.

Top court orders probe into TV presenter's racial slur

Supreme Court prosecutor Xeni Dimitriou on Monday ordered a preliminary investigation into the racist rant of a TV presenter against Panathinaikos basketball player Thanasis Antetokounmpo two weeks ago.

The probe, which will be conducted by the Athens Prosecutors Office, will look into possible violations of the anti-racism law and whether other offenses were committed.

Prosecutor orders probe in wake of Kotzias lawsuit

Supreme Court Prosecutor Xeni Dimitriou has ordered a probe into a lawsuit filed by former foreign minister Nikos Kotzias for defamation and dissemination of false news aimed at undermining him.

In the lawsuit filed Friday, Kotzias mentions specific media reports that were allegedly designed to intimidate him against concluding name talks with Skopje.

Prosecutor to probe alleged mismanagement of EU funds

Supreme Court prosecutor Xeni Dimitriou on Monday ordered an investigation into media reports alleging that European Union funds given to Greece for the migration crisis were mismanaged.

Dimitriou asked the head of the financial prosecutors' union, Marianna Psaroudaki, to launch an initial investigation to determine whether there is any basis to the allegations.

Change of tack on east Attica fire probe

The head of the Athens prosecutor's office, Ilias Zagoraios, is to continue the investigation into July's deadly fires on the eastern coast of Attica after Supreme Court prosecutor Xeni Dimitriou backtracked on her request to delay its completion until a report by a top public administration official has been taken into account.
