The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) refused to prematurely terminate the mandate of the Prosecutor General. Only two of the members of the Supreme Court - Atanaska Disheva and Olga Kerelska - were "in favor" of the removal of Ivan Geshev, all the other 16 voted "against" and so he remains in his post. The Prosecutor General did not participate in the vote.

The Minister of Justice may make a proposal to the Supreme Judicial Council for the early release of the Prosecutor General, as well as to the chairmen of the Supreme Court of Cassation and the Supreme Administrative Court. This was ruled by the Constitutional Court on Tuesday. The decision was taken unanimously - with 10 votes in favor.

The investigation of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office on the signal of the acting Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov against the Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev has ended, a refusal to initiate pre-trial proceedings has been ruled, the spokesman of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office Hristo Krastev told BTA.

 A presidential decree has been gazetted Thursday with the line-up of a new caretaker government that will prepare the November 14 elections for a new Parliament and the presidential elections to be held on the same day. Most ministers from the caretaker government of Prime Minister Stefan Yanev, including Yanev himself, keep their offices.

Bulgarian caretaker Justice Minister Yanaki Stoilov submitted to Parliament an analysis of the specialized courts and prosecution offices and analysis on optimizing the country's judicial structures around the country.

Attempts by the outgoing caretaker government to oust Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev, who served under the previous government of Boyko Borissov, are continuing.

On Tuesday acting Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov approached the Deputy Chief Prosecutor and Director of the National Investigation Borislav Sarafov with a signal against Geshev for leaked eavesdropping.

Democratic Bulgaria supports the steps taken by caretaker Minister of Justice Yanaki Stoilov for the dismissal of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev.

Now the members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) should show whether they are independent and emancipated, Justice Minister Yanaki Stoilov commented for Bulgarian National Television (BNT) Saturday, as quoted by his ministry.
   

The caretaker Minister of Justice Yanaki Stoilov has submitted to the Supreme Judicial Council a request for opening a procedure for early termination of the powers of Bulgaria's Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev, accroding to BNR reporter Silvia Velikova.  The request is in connection with a report by the caretaker Minister of Interior on violations committed by the Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev

The caretaker government will replace the CEO of the Registry Agency Gabriela Kozareva. This was announced personally by Prime Minister Stefan Yanev in the cabinet's report on what has been done since he took over the government of the country.
