The Sofia municipal company "Metropolitan" is nearing the deadline for public procurement bids to select an architectural-engineering bureau for designing the extension of the metro's second line after the "Vitosha" station in the "Hladilnika" area.

Boyko Borissov and Yordanka Fandakova have been summoned to attend an extraordinary meeting of the Metropolitan Municipal Council (MMC) on May 23. This session has been called by the "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria-Spasi Sofia" group to address why Sofia currently has no operational lifts to Vitosha.

bTV reported that following recent measures to widen bicycle lanes and increase parking spaces by narrowing "Vitosha" Blvd. and "Patriarch Evtimiy" Blvd., authorities in Sofia are now planning to convert a section of another prominent boulevard into a pedestrian zone. The targeted area is the final segment of "Al Stamboliyski" Blvd. in front of "Sveta Nedelya" square.

The Deputy Mayor for Transport of Sofia, Iliyan Pavlov, advocates for an extension of the operating hours of the blue zone for paid parking, suggesting it should be effective beyond its current 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. timeframe on weekdays and Saturdays.

In an effort to combat air pollution, Sofia city officials have announced a ban on older cars from entering the city center starting this Friday. The restriction specifically targets vehicles over 30 years old with gasoline engines and those over 20 years old with diesel engines.
