Pahor to host regional summit in September
Ljubljana – Slovenian President Borut Pahor will host the leaders of the Brdo-Brijuni initiative of regional cooperation for a summit at Brdo estate on 12 September which is to call on the EU to step up enlargement to the Western Balkans.

Ljubljana – Prime Minister Robert Golob has indicated that Dragan Barbutovski is being replaced as director of the Government Communication Office because he lacks organisational and managerial skills to run an office that the government would want to get help from in the war on hate speech.

Dnevnik sceptical of small solar power plant plan for Ljubljana
Ljubljana – Dnevnik says in Saturday’s commentary that Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković is reckoning without the host when he is announcing construction of solar power plants on roofs of public buildings, as it is not clear whether it will be possible to connect such power plants to the distribution network.

Three presidents urge acceleration of EU talks for W Balkans
Brijuni – The presidents of Slovenia, Croatia and Austria urged accelerating EU accession talks with Western Balkan countries and condemned the war in Ukraine, which they believe cannot be resolved diplomatically at the moment. At their annual meeting in Croatia, they also discussed NATO enlargement and Croatia’s eurozone and Schengen zone entry.
