Janković pleads not guilty in tax evasion case
Ljubljana – Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković entered a not guilty plea at an arraignment hearing at the Ljubljana District Court on Friday in a case of tax evasion concerning the sale of retailer Mercator shares in 2006. His two sons also pleaded not guilty as well but they did not attend the hearing.

Govt and Ljubljana expand cooperation agreement
Ljubljana – A cooperation agreement between the government and the Ljubljana municipality which was signed in May has been expanded by additional 21 projects. Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković and Public Administration Minister Boštjan Koritnik signed the amendments on Friday.

Ljubljana – Slovenian Olympians were welcomed by fans in Ljubljana’s Congress Square on Tuesday evening, earning cheers and applauses after what were the most successful Summer Olympic Games for the nation, as the athletes returned home with three gold medals.
New youth housing complex opens in Ljubljana
Ljubljana – A new housing complex with almost 110 apartments for people aged 18-29 was inaugurated on Wednesday in Ljubljana in a bid to assist youths in gaining independence, starting family and securing financial freedom. Monthly rent will be some 150 EUR per person.

Pride Parade highlights epidemic-related setbacks for LGBTIQ+ community
Ljubljana – The LGBTIQ+ community staged the Pride Parade in Ljubljana on Saturday afternoon under the slogan Resist the Oppression as a culmination of a week-long festival, demanding freedom, equality and unconditional respect for human rights of LGBTIQ+ persons. The annual parade was for the first time accompanied by the Balkan Trans Intersex March.
Slovenia, Serbia agree to recognise vaccination certificates
Ljubljana – Foreign Minister Anže Logar and his Serbian counterpart Nikola Selaković agreed on a mutual recognition of vaccination certificates as they held talks on Tuesday that focused on bilateral relations and Slovenia’s forthcoming presidency of the Council of the EU.
Ljubljana city council endorses Rog project
Ljubljana – The Ljubljana city council endorsed on Monday the decree founding the public institute Rog Centre that is to be set up in the defunct Ljubljana bicycle factory Rog. This comes after an autonomous social and cultural community was evicted from the premises in January.

Ikea store opens in Ljubljana amid and despite epidemic
Ljubljana – Swedish furniture group Ikea opened its much-anticipated first store in Slovenia on Thursday. “Although this is not an opening we expected, we are grateful to be here today,” Sara Del Fabbro, the CEO at Ikea South East Europe, said at today’s inauguration event in Ljubljana’s BTC shopping district amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Memorandum signed to build Ljubljana passenger terminal
Ljubljana – Public and private investors, including the government, signed a memorandum in Ljubljana on Tuesday to cooperate in the construction of a EUR 387 million passenger terminal in Slovenia’s capital, also known as Emonika.
