Merkel speaks with Tsipras, Zaev over FYROM name talks
German Chancellor Angela Merkel conveyed her country's interest in the developments concerning talks between Athens and Skopje over the name of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), during a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Monday.
Macedonia PM Recruits Albanian Parties to Boost Majority
The reshuffle proposed by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev on Tuesday is the first since the election of his government last year, and will see two small ethnic Albanian parties join the ruling coalition, boosting its support in the assembly.
The Democratic Party of Albanians, DPA, which controls two MPs in parliament, will get one ministerial post and one deputy minister.

With Greece having officially rejected "Ilindenska Makedonija" as a candidate name for the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, talks have reportedly continued behind the scenes in a bid to break the deadlock and resolve the decades-old dispute.

Macedonia Court Acquits Zaev of Bribery Charge
A Macedonian court has ruled that Prime Minister Zoran Zaev was not guilty of having solicited a bribe of 200,000 euros to help a local businessman buy land in his home town of Strumica.
"I am happy about the acquittal and that I finally proved my innocence and received justice," Zaev said in front of the court after the ruling was issued.

Macedonia FM Says 'Ilinden' Name Deserves Support
Macedonia and Greece need to show leadership over the latest proposal for a solution to the "name" dispute, which includes the name "Republic of Ilinden Macedonia" for all uses; otherwise they risk taking a step back in the ongoing "name" talks, Macedonia's Foreign Minister, Nikola Dimitrov, said on Sunday.

Athens and Skopje would ideally agree on one of the names proposed by Nimetz, gov't says
Athens said Monday it welcomed Skopje's acceptance of a Greek demand that any name agreed between the two countries be "erga omnes," i.e. to be used domestically and internationally, adding however that the two sides would ideally agree on one of the names proposed by UN mediator Matthew Nimetz.
FYROM's main opposition party rejects name proposal
The main opposition party of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), the nationalist VMRO-DPMNE, said it was against changing the country's name to "Republic of Ilinden Macedonia," undermining prospects for a solution of a decades-long dispute with Greece.

Zaev says Greece agrees to discuss proposed name
Prime Minister Zoran Zaev of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) said Saturday he is ready to go ahead with a new name for his country in order to solve a decades-long name dispute with Greece and pave the way for full integration of the small Balkan country into the European Union and NATO.
