Nearly 5,000 cultural assets returned to Turkey in last 18 years

A total of 4,862 cultural assets were returned to Turkey between 2003 and 2021, according to data given by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Authorities continue to work in coordination with relevant institutions in order to prevent cultural property smuggling and bring back Turkish origin artifacts found abroad.

Green sea turtles start laying eggs in southern Turkey 

Green sea turtles have started laying eggs in Turkey's southern province of Adana.

The Akyatan Wildlife Development Area, an internationally important wetland located between Akyatan, the largest lagoon of Çukurova Delta, and the Mediterranean, welcomes green sea turtles every summer.

Volunteers and officials have been on night watch along the 22-kilometer (13.6-mile) coast.

Local man builds 1,200 cacti garden for wife with cancer

A local man in the Mediterranean province of Adana has built a hobby garden with more than 1,200 cacti to support his spouse with breast cancer.

Fikriye Gülmez and Hasan Gülmez, a couple married for 49 years, went to a doctor for a routine health checkup last year.

During the health checkup, it was found that Fikriye Gülmez has a malignant lesion in her breast.

Man flees after abandoning his car on pedestrian overpass

Police teams are on the lookout for an unknown driver who drove his car over a pedestrian overpass in the southern province of Adana's Beyazevler neighborhood and later abandoning it on the bridge after it got stuck in the barriers.

"We have no idea why the man did such a thing," said police teams who found the car stuck on a pedestrian overpass on late April 20.
