Four tourist boats engulfed in flames

While Turkey's Mediterranean resorts have just emerged out of a massive wildfire disaster, four tourist sailing boats in Antalya's Alanya district caught fire, in which two of them burned to death.

A fire broke out late Aug. 15. on a boat named Mozi 07 that was anchored in an Alanya fisherman's shelter, spreading to three neighboring vessels.

Ukrainian envoy slams district mayor for playing Soviet song

Ukrainian Ambassador to Ankara Andrii Sybiha has slammed the Mediterranean province of Antalya's Alanya district municipality for playing Katyusha, a patriotic Soviet song, during a roving concert in the town from a bus to mark May 9 Victory Day, when the Soviets defeated Nazi Germany in 1945.

Alanya Castle hosts thousands of visitors

Alanya Castle, which was included on the UNESCO Tentative List in 2000, welcomes around 140,000 visitors a month. The castle in the southern province of Antalya's Alanya district was built in the Hellenistic era on an area of 10 hectares and is surrounded with six kilometers of walls. It hosted the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and the Ottoman civilizations for many years.
