Powerful Earthquake Jolts Northeastern India
An earthquake with a magnitude of 6,4 has struck an area in northeast India, posing a serious threat to thousands of people.
The powerful earthquake, which originated in Tezpur, Assam near the Himalayas had a depth of 34 kilometres when it hit Wednesday at 7.51am (local time).
Two aftershocks were also reported within minutes of the initial quake, according to India Today.

In Bangladesh, the victims are 115. More than 5.7 million people are affected. The floods covered more than a third of the densely populated and low-altitude country.
In Nepal, the victims are 143. Thousands are left homeless.

At least 165 people have died and thousands have fled their homes as monsoon floods swept across Nepal, India and Bangladesh, officials said Aug. 14, warning the toll could rise as the extent of the damage becomes clear.
