‘Shadow teachers’ for children with special needs in Beylikdüzü
With the start of a new project in Istanbul's Beylikdüzü province, some 44 "shadow teachers" started assisting students with down syndrome and autism in classrooms.
"Shadow teachers" are expected to share the same row with the inclusive students throughout the day and act as a mediator in the triangle of family-school-child in the educational aspect.

Heavy storms pummel southern tourism hub
As severe storms pummel different parts of Turkey, the southern province of Antalya has been the worst-hit province over the last two days out of the 35 cities for which the Turkish State Meteorological Service had issued "yellow" and "orange" warnings.

Turkey's most populated province of Istanbul, which faces an imminent threat of being hit by a magnitude 7 or higher powerful earthquake, is home to 260,000 buildings that were constructed before 1980, a report has said.
Anchovy most consumed seafood in 2020 in Istanbul
Istanbul's residents have consumed anchovies, known more widely in Turkish as "hamsi," bonito and haddock the most in 2020, according to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality data compiled by state-run Anadolu Agency.
Some 97 different fish species were brought to the main fish market in the Gürpınar neighborhood of the Beylikdüzü district, said municipality officials.

People flock to barbershops, malls in first phase of Turkey’s normalization plan
People have flocked to barbers, hairdressers and shopping malls after they opened on May 11 as part of the first phase of Turkey's normalization plan.
But Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca criticized some photos of people lining up without face masks and waiting in long queues outside several malls while not heeding social distancing rules.
