Thousands bid farewell to legendary actor
Thousands of fans bid farewell to Turkish legendary actor Cüneyt Arkın, who died at the age of 85, in a funeral service held in Istanbul's Teşvikiye Mosque.
The actor was then laid to rest in Zincirlikuyu cemetery in the Beşiktaş district on June 30.
Early on June 30, a ceremony was held in Atatürk Cultural Center, one of the metropolis' iconic art centers.

Turkish intelligence busts Iranian plans to kidnap, attack Israelis
Türkiye's National Intelligence Organization (MİT) and police busted the Iranian intelligence service SAVAMA in Istanbul on June 17.
They were allegedly preparing to kidnap and attack Israeli diplomats and tourist groups in Istanbul.
They have determined that the shooters who planned to take part in the attacks were in Istanbul.
15-year jail term sought for S Korean professor for beating wife
Istanbul prosecutors have asked the court to sentence famous South Korean professor Namkook Lee to nearly 15 years in prison for allegedly beating his 43-year-old wife, Jae Young Lee.
Namkook Lee, 70, is an expert on animation and known as "the man behind" many famous animation movies such as "Scooby-Doo," "Space Jam" and "Goof Troop."

European Archaeology Days to start in Istanbul
Istanbul will host an EU-based archaeology festival, European Archaeology Days, conducted by the French Institute for Anatolian Studies (IFEA) and the Institut Français Istanbul, between June 17 and 19.
The entrance to the festival, which will be conducted at the Institut Français in the Beyoğlu district, will be free of charge.

Turkish police save Nepali tourists abducted by Pakistani group
Four Nepali tourists kidnapped by six Pakistanis for ransom have been freed by Istanbul police, following an early morning raid on a house the abductees were kept for three days.
According to Demirören News Agency, the Pakistani group abducted the Nepalis at gunpoint while they were wandering in Taksim Square, one of the significant landmarks of the metropolis.
Ukrainian paralympians stranded in Turkey
Athletes from the Ukrainian Paralympic team have been stranded in Istanbul for weeks as they failed to return to their countries after the Russian invasion started.
The athletes arrived in Istanbul on Feb. 14 for training and were supposed go back to Ukraine in March.
As the war broke out, they could not return to the country and spent some 10 days at a Turkish athlete's home.
