Urartian speaker to quit post in November
Mehmet Kuşman, who has been a volunteer guard at a Urartian castle in the eastern province of Van and is one of the few people in the world who speaks the Urartian language, has said that he will quit his voluntary job in November.

Hestia statue to be displayed in museum
Excavations have been ongoing in the ancient city of Aigai in the western province of Manisa. A 2.7-meter-high statue, which was unearthed in 2004-05 and is the only Hestia statue in the world that has survived from the Hellenistic period, will be exhibited at the Manisa Archeology Museum, which is set to be opened this year.

Misty sunrise for the summer solstice at Stonehenge
The sun was long overdue on June 21 but when it finally appeared, faces lit up and arms rose as one to greet the summer solstice at Britain's most famous prehistoric monument.
The sun was scheduled to come up on the longest day of the year at 4:49 am (3:49 GMT) but was shy in a sky as hazy as the minds of many of the midsummer revelers who spent the night at the sacred site.
Gate of Hell opens to visitors
The Gate of Hell, (Plutonium), which was unearthed in 2013 by the Italian excavation team in Pamukkale, one of Türkiye's UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites, has been opened to visitors. Plutonium, which is called the "gateway to the land of the dead" in ancient sources, began hosting hundreds of local and foreign tourists on the very first day.

Statuette of architect among new cache of ancient Egyptian artifacts
Egypt on Monday unveiled a cache of sarcophagi and bronze statuettes, including one of pioneering architect Imhotep, at the Saqqara archaeological site south of Cairo.
They were the latest in a series of discoveries made in the area.
Excavations in Göbeklitepe may continue for decades: Expert
The excavation works in Göbeklitepe, a 12-000-year-old Neolithic archaeological site in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa, may continue for decades, an expert has said.
"The site unearthed until today is not even 10 percent of all the complex that is still underground," Necmi Karul, a member of the Göbeklitepe Science Board, told Demirören News Agency.
