Hungary Jails Traffickers for Life Over Lorry Migrant Deaths

A court in Hungary imprisoned three Bulgarians and one Afghan for life over the deaths of 71 refugees who perished in a lorry in August 2015. In the so-called Parndorf death van case, which made waves internationally, the migrants suffocated in a refrigerator truck while trying to get from Hungary to Germany.

Hungary Indicts 7 Bulgarians Over Death of 71 Migrants

Hungarian police announced that it will charge seven Bulgarians and an Afghani male after it concluded the investigation of the death of 71 migrants discovered in a truck in Austria last year.

The investigators reckon the Afghani man was at the head of the gang. He and the seven Bulgarians were arrested because of the tragedy which became notorious all over Europe.

Austrian Policemen Investigating Death of Migrants in Truck to Arrive in Bulgaria

Representatives of the Austrian police investigating the death of the 71 migrants, who were found in an abandoned truck in the state of Burgenland last week, are expected to arrive in Bulgaria on Wednesday.

The number of people detained for the suspected trafficking of the migrants increased to seven on Tuesday after two new arrests.
