Woman opens coffee house only for females
A woman in the eastern province of Elazığ has converted a coffee house inherited from her father into a venue only for women of the Hal village, İhlas News Agency has reported.
"We, female villagers, are happy to be together, joining ourselves," 55-year-old Ayşe Günay told the news agency.

Woman fined for leaving her cat on street
A woman who left her kitten under a tree has been caught by police teams and has been punished with a fine of 2,724 Turkish Liras.
The woman, identified only by the initials S.Ç., who left her newborn cat under a tree on the boulevard in the eastern province of Elazığ, was fined 2,724 liras for the crime of "abandoning pets."

University students in Turkey’s east ‘colored’ in festival
Within the scope of the "Fırat Fest," a 20-day spring festival organized by Fırat University, a "Color Festival" was held in the eastern province of Elazığ for the first time.
Some 5,000 university students participated in the "Color Festival," held in a social complex by the Lake Hazar and threw powdered paint at each other.

Magnitude 5.2 quake shakes eastern Turkey
A magnitude-5.2 earthquake struck Turkey's eastern province of Bingöl on June 25, according to the country's disaster agency.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the quake struck the Kiğı district at 9.28 p.m. local time (1828GMT).
It occurred at a depth of 15.51 kilometers (9.63 miles) below the surface, it said.
