Ousted Mardin co-mayor Türk visits former main opposition leader Baykal

Ahmet Türk, the ousted co-mayor of the southeastern province of Mardin, has paid a visit to former leader of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), Deniz Baykal, in Ankara. 

Türk visited Baykal, who is currently a CHP lawmaker from the southern province of Antalya, to express appreciation for the latter's visit to his family during his arrest.  

Power will be gathered in one person to avoid strife: Erdoğan

The government-supported constitutional amendment will concentrate power in one pair of hands "to avoid strife," President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said, appealing to voters from the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) and Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) as the referendum campaign gathered momentum.

Footage of Ahmet Türk, the ousted and jailed mayor of the southeastern province of Mardin, being brought to hospital in the eastern province of Elazığ has stirred debate among social media users and politicians due to accusations he was restrained in handcuffs despite his severe health condition. 

Two soldiers killed in PKK attack in Turkey's east

Two soldiers have been killed in clashes with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the eastern province of Tunceli. 

Clashes erupted in the Aliboğazı region, resulting in injuries to two soldiers. The wounded soldiers were taken to the neighboring province of Elazığ for treatment, where both succumbed to their injuries.
