Turkish Airlines is set to commence flights to the country's first artificial island airport in the Black Sea region, along with the much-anticipated new airport in southeastern Turkey, thus increasing its total nationwide destinations to 46.

The names of historic Kurdish figures will be given to a number of schools in the southeastern Turkish province of Batman, Provincial Director of National Education Mehmet Çelik has said.
Mules slated for euthanization escape to Iran
A Hakkari court ruled for the euthanization of 97 mules seized during a smuggling operation on the border last November on the grounds that the mules "threatened human and animal health," but were informed that the mules had escaped to Iran on Jan. 7, after heavy snowfall destroyed the tent they were being held in.

Turkish president says he is aware of 'plot' in Cizre
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has suggested there is a plot behind the ongoing unrest in Cizre, a town near the border with Syria and Iraq, where tension peaked after a 12-year-old boy was shot last week, the sixth person to be killed in the town in the last three weeks.
Man who entered military post in southeastern town injured
A young man who entered a military post without permission in the Lice district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır has been shot and wounded by soldiers. The man, identified only as R.K., was taken to hospital soon after the incident, which came as rising tensions in the region spilled over into protests.

Off-duty officer killed in Diyarbakır laid to rest
Nejdet AydoÄdu, the Turkish officer who was shopping with his wife in downtown Diyarbakır when he was shot in the head by unidentified assailants, was buried during his funeral at his hometown Ãnye on Oct. 31.

Two arrested in probe into killing of three Turkish soldiers
Two of three suspects detained over the killing of three off-duty soldiers in the eastern province of Hakkari have been arrested.
The suspects were captured by police on Oct. 27 as a part of the operation launched after the death of the soldiers and were sent to a court in the Yüksekova district after being questioned.
