Landlord becomes ‘guest’ of his tenants
In an incident first of its kind, a landlord in the western province of İzmir, has started living in his house with his tenants, waiting for them to leave.
"I am like a guest of my renters," 50 year-old Engin Alkan told the daily Milliyet on Aug. 14.

Statue of famous folk singer vandalized
The statue of Neşet Ertaş, a legendary folk singer and poet, who died in 2012, has been attacked in the Central Anatolian province of Kırşehir.
While it has not yet been determined who attacked the statue, the police launched a large-scale investigation into the incident.

Special team assigned over cemevi head attack
Istanbul Police Department has assigned a special team to inspect the attack carried out by two assailants on Selami Sarıtaş, the head of a cemevi in Istanbul's Kartal district, on Aug. 5.
One of the two motorcyclists, who allegedly made a scouting trip on the street before, approached Sarıtaş, who was returning home in his car, under the pretext of asking for an address.

‘Cemevi attacks connected to terror organizations’
The attacks on Alevi prayer houses, known as the "cemevi," in the capital Ankara are connected to some terror groups, the spokesperson of the interior ministry has said.
"Three people were detained. They have connections to some organizations," İsmail Çataklı said on late Aug. 3.

Famous Turkish basketball player Cedi Osman, who plays for NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers, has tied the knot with actress Ebru Şahin at a wedding ceremony in the western province of İzmir's coastal district Çeşme.
Some 250 celebrities and family members gathered at the ceremony on July 9.

Percussionist becomes influencer with goblet drum
The coronavirus pandemic hit the entertainers the most, one of them being a female percussion artist who had to resign from her orchestra, but little did she know that her videos of playing the goblet drum would make her a social media sensation.
"People getting astonished while seeing me play goblet drum gives me a kick," Ceren Özdemir said.
