US State Dept: Belgrade-Pristina dialogue on dinar should continue with urgency

WASHINGTON - The US State Department believes the EU-facilitated dialogue is the proper channel for resolving issues related to normalisation of Belgrade-Pristina relations and that discussions about the Serbian dinar should continue with urgency, says principal deputy spokesperson for the US State Department Vedant Patel.

BRUSSELS - The director of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija Petar Petkovic said on Tuesday that, at a Brussels meeting with Pristina's chief negotiator Besnik Bislimi and the EU special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Miroslav Lajcak, Belgrade's delegation had pointed out everything that posed a difficulty for the survival of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija.

BRUSSELS - A trilateral meeting of the chief negotiators of Belgrade and Pristina, Petar Petkovic and Besnik Bislimi, and the EU special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Miroslav Lajcak concluded in Brussels at around 4.30 pm on Tuesday.

The meeting, which began at around 1 pm, lasted slightly over 3.5 hours.

BRUSSELS - A trilateral meeting of the chief negotiators of Belgrade and Pristina, Petar Petkovic and Besnik Bislimi, and the EU special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Miroslav Lajcak began in Brussels shortly before 1 pm on Tuesday.

Previously, a delegation of experts from Belgrade that was led by Petkovic met with an EU delegation headed by Lajcak.

US envoy travels to Montenegro to support its EU bid as war in Ukraine rages on

A senior US official visited Montenegro Monday to offer support to the small Balkan nation seeking to join the European Union.

During a press conference in the capital Podgorica, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Gabriel Escobar said Montenegro should be next in line to join the 27-nation bloc.
