Photogrammetric map of Iasos made

The ancient city of Iasos, a port city founded by the Argosians in the western province of Muğla's Milas district, impresses visitors as it resembles an open-air museum with its great walls, aqueducts, agora, theater, Roman-era tombstones and fishermen's market.

Archaeological excavations continue in the ancient city, which is located in the Kıyıkışlacık neighborhood.

Thousands Evacuated in Turkey as Fires Reach Power Plant

"Flames have entered the thermal power plant," the Mayor of Milas, Muhammet Tokat, said on Wednesday night on Twitter, adding that the staff were evacuated.

Works ongoing to restore mosque in ancient city of Beçin

A 600-year-old mosque in the ancient city of Beçin, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, is being restored.

Professor Kadir Pektaş, chief of the excavation team, told the state-run Anadolu Agency that the restoration process has been continuing in the city, which is located in the western province of Muğla's Milas district and dates back to 2,000 B.C.

Fountain in ancient Beçin flowing once again

Water began to flow from a castle fountain in Beçin Ancient City in southwestern Turkey after approximately 700 years because of excavation and restoration work.

Beçin Ancient City, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, is located in the Milas district of Muğla and was the capital of the Menteşeoğulları Principality.

Turkey’s Milas olive oil gets geographical indication

The olive oil produced in Turkey's southwestern town of Milas has earned a geographical indication from the EU, the Turkish Directorate for EU Affairs said on Dec. 26. 

With this recognition that was applied for by Milas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Milas Olive Oil will be protected in the EU against all kinds of abuse, imitation and association.
