Visitor numbers to museums, ruins hit 55 mln in 2023
Türkiye witnessed a 6.2 percent rise in the number of visitors to its museum and ruins in 2023, totaling around 55.7 million, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) have shown.
The central province of Nevşehir, known for Cappadocia's hot balloon rides and fairy chimneys, emerged as the city with the highest number of visitors, with some 4.7 people in 2023.

Located in the central province of Nevşehir's historical Ürgüp district, scores of locals dry tons of plums in the Bahçeli village, which has been recognized by the local authorities as an ecological agriculture site.

According to the statement made by the ministry, there was a record increase in MüzeKart sales, the price of which was recently fixed to 60 Turkish Liras.

Türkiye working to diversify renewable energy resources
The Agriculture and Forestry Ministry is working on projects aimed at utilizing geothermal energy resources, particularly in urban agriculture, while officials are looking into ways to boost biomass production in rural areas.
The ministry favors the specialized greenhouse-organized industrial zones based on geothermal heating (TDİOSB) as the more appropriate model.

Nearly 478,000 visit Cappadocia in a month
Some 477,757 people have visited Cappadocia, the historical region in Central Anatolia famous for its fairy chimneys, in May this year, a number nearly eight times higher than the same month the previous year, the Governor's Office of the province of Nevşehir has announced.
"In May 2021, the number of the visitors was 61,634," said the office in a statement on June 7.

Turkey's world-famous Cappadocia region, home to fabled fairy chimneys and stunning balloon rides, welcomed over 60,000 tourists this May, local tourism officials said in a statement on June 11.
According to authorities in the central Nevşehir province, 61,634 people visited 17 top tourist sites in Cappadocia.
