Vucic votes in New Belgrade

BELGRADE - Serbian Progressive Party leader and President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic cast his vote in the Belgrade local elections in the municipality of New Belgrade on Sunday morning.

Vucic appeared at polling station No. 27 in the Zepter International building shortly after 9.15 am.

Serbia's Ruling Party Wins Belgrade Elections

The ruling Serbian Progressive Party won most votes in Sunday's Belgrade City Assembly elections and will most likely continue to run the capital for the next four years, preliminary results show.

Party chief and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said the party's nominee for the post of mayor would be revealed within 15 days.

Three Children Die in Fire in Belgrade

Three children aged five, seven and nine, died on Thursday night when a fire broke in the barracks in which they lived in New Belgrade municipality.

Rade Milosevic, chief of the city department for emergency situations, said the fire erupted in the 20-square-metre barracks quickly as it was made of cardboard and wooden boards.
