Osaka Mayor Hirofumi Yosimura said his city will end its 60-year relationship with San Francisco as sister cities a day after the local government in the US city officially approved the sculpture of the so-called "comfort women," the victims of sexual slavery of the Japanese army during the Second World War, DPA reported.

Police and witnesses say a man deliberately drove a rented truck onto a busy bicycle path near the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, killing eight people and injuring at least 12 others, then emerged from the vehicle screaming and brandishing imitation firearms before being shot by police. The suspect was wounded and taken into custody, reports cbsnews.

New York’s most iconic coffee cup, the Anthora, was designed by Czech-American immigrant Leslie Buck in 1963. The word “Anthora” was Buck’s distinctive mispronunciation of “amphora,” the two-handled Greek pitcher associated with the same imagery that appears on the coffee cup.
