Caretta caretta season starts in country’s west
Endangered loggerhead sea turtles, known as Caretta caretta, have laid their first nest of the season on İztuzu Beach, a popular nesting ground in Muğla's Ortaca district.
These turtles migrate to the Aegean coast for five months each year, using the beach for nesting, incubation and mating.

Tuba, a caretta caretta that was found injured in the western province of Muğla and released to the sea after the treatment with a satellite tracking device, covered a distance of 19,500 kilometers in 40 months, while 8 million people have viewed the map showing its route.

Monument for ‘mother of Caretta carettas’ built
A monument has been constructed in the Dalyan neighborhood of the southwestern province of Muğla's Ortaca district in the name of June Haimoff, a British environmentalist, known as the "mother of Caretta carettas," who died on April 23 at the age of 100.

Green turtle tracked with device
After receiving its treatment in the western province of Muğla, a green sea turtle, which is under the threat of extinction, was released to the sea three days ago with a satellite tracking device installed on it.
The turtle traveled approximately 30 kilometers in three days and reached Marmaris' Aksaz area.

Historical artifacts seized across Turkey
Various historical artifacts have been seized in anti-smuggling operations across Turkey, security sources said on March 1.
Five mosaic paintings believed to be historical artifacts were seized in the southern province of Mersin, and a suspect was arrested, according to the local gendarmerie command.
