Bulgaria Elections 2021: Alcohol Banned in Several Municipalities

Plovdiv mayor Zdravko Dimitrov has banned the sale, serving and consumption of alcohol in public catering establishments and other public places on April 4, the day of Bulgaria's parliamentary elections.

The ban will be in effect from 6am until 9pm on Sunday. Voting in Bulgaria's parliamentary elections is scheduled to end at 8pm.

Bulgaria Minister Resigns after Arrest Over Water Crisis

Bulgaria's Minister of Environment and Water, Neno Dimov, has resigned and been charged with deliberate mismanagement of a water crisis. He faces further grilling over a scandal concerning transports of scrap from Italy.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov accepted his resignation on Friday. Dimov stepped down after being arrested on Thursday.

Flu Epidemic in Pernik

The Health Inspection in Pernik has announced a flu epidemic on the territory of Pernik district, which is in force today, the press center of the Ministry of Health announced. Children and females routine checks, hospital visits and prophylactic immunizations are stopped. The directors of the hospitals are ordered to provide extra beds for the internal compartments.
