Iranian tourists flock to Van, filling hotels

The occupancy rate of the hotels in the eastern province of Van has hit 100 percent as Iranians have thronged the city with the start of a national three-day holiday in their country.

"Some 5,000 Iranians entered on the first day of their holiday," Yunus Yüksel, the board chair of the Van Hotel Owners and Tourism Professionals Association, told Demirören News Agency on June 5.

Iranians flock to Van for Black Friday shopping

Thousands of Iranians have flocked to the eastern province of Van to benefit from discounts amid the Black Friday shopping days that started on Nov. 26 and will last until the weekend.

Causing a "Black Friday crowd" at the Kapıköy Customs Gate in the province's Saray district, many Iranians filled shopping centers and shops in the city.

PKK releases two officials abducted in customs raid

The outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has released one customs officials and a driver that it recently took hostage, while ten remain in captivity.

Eleven customs officials and a driver were reported missing after they did not return home from work on Aug. 22, despite taking a shuttle at 4.30 p.m. at the end of their shifts.
